Calcite is the stable form of Calcium Carbonate at ordinary pressure and over a
large range of temperature. The varieties of calcite are very numerous, and diverse in
appearance. They depend mainly on differences
in crystallization, structural condition and
presence of impurities, etc. Limestone, Marble & Chalk are the different varieties of
calcite depending upon the crystallization and accidental impurities.
Calcium Carbonate finds its application as a value added filler in
polypropylene (PP) due to its wide range of particle size, low cost, good
color, low oil absorption characteristics, higher impact resistance, glossiness, smooth
surface finish, easy processing, good dimensional stability, and its free flowing
characteristics. |
